06/23/2018 - 23:30

WHAT: Guests are invited to a unique roaming feast, enjoying a selection of hors d’oeuvres and small plates and great drinks from the many Zagat-rated restaurants in Lincoln Square. Teaching artists from the Old Town School will entertain guests as they make their way along Lincoln Avenue, followed by an intimate concert performance from this year's musical guest, Ry Cooder. The evening concludes with a ‘Gala After Party’ featuring dessert, delicious late-night bites, and the musical energy of Flaco Jiménez with Los Texmaniacs.

Surprise elements throughout the evening are surely in store, in keeping with the Old Town School’s unique brand of casual cool. Proceeds support Old Town School's mission of providing arts access to all including community outreach, financial aid, and education programs.

His collaborations with fellow musicians over the years have produced quintessential albums such as Little Village (1992), The Long Black Veil with The Chieftains (1995), Mambo Sinuendo with Manuel Galban (2003), and the aforementioned award-winning Buena Vista Social Club, which saw the reunion of some of the greatest surviving musicians of the 20th century Cuban music world.

This summer, for the first time since 2009, Cooder will be touring North America with his own band (featuring his son Joachim on drums) in support of his upcoming album, The Prodigal Son, scheduled to be released on May 11, 2018.
