The parade begins at Block Stadium, 145th and Parrish Avenue. The parade will travel down Parrish to Columbus Drive and head east to Main Street north to Martin Luther King Drive; turning west to end on Michigan Avenue/Indian Harbor Drive. The festival celebration will take place at Jeorse Park located at 3301 Aldis Avenue, East Chicago.

Food vendors, craft vendors and a beer garden will be featured at the festival; there will also be live entertainment for all to enjoy.

The annual parade is a tradition and celebrates the heritage of the Mexican population throughout Northwest Indiana. Many participants dress in traditional Mexican clothing and everyone is invited to the festivities. “The Mexican Independence Day festivities are about the love and the pride we as Mexicans have in our culture and its rich traditions; we invite everyone to come out and enjoy and part a part of this celebration,” said Margaret Gomez, President of the Union Benefica Mexicana.
