The Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) is releasing the Marquette Action Plan for a 30 day public comment period. The comment period will begin May 30, 2018 and end on June 28, 2018. The Marquette Action Plan builds on The Marquette Plan, a comprehensive and collaborative vision for guiding future decision-making across all of Indiana's Lake Michigan shoreline, an area that holds a tremendous amount of opportunities and challenges.

Orphans of the Storm (OOTS), one of the best respected and largest animal shelters in the Chicago area, will waive adoption fees for cats two years and older every weekend in the month of June 2018. In partnership with Ruth Helen Wolf Animal Hospital and Animal Medical Center in Skokie, they will also be offering a free medical exam and micro-chip with each cat adoption. Orphans of the Storm is located at 2200 Riverwoods Road, and also has satellite locations in Northbrook, Gurnee and Highland Park.

Orphans of the Storm (OOTS) happily announces a new addition of an enrichment area to the woodland preserve area at the shelter. Funded and created by shelter volunteers, with the help and discounts provided by many businesses, the play space is named the Jim Farmer Memorial Enrichment Park in honor of a long time devoted trainer and volunteer Jim Farmer, who recently passed. A group of Orphans of The Storm supporters, volunteers, and staff will be convening for a reception to officially dedicate the park and to honor Farmer and his dedication to Orphans of the Storm on Sunday June 24 at 2 p.m. at Orphans of the Storm.
