As the unofficial start of summer, the Memorial Day holiday weekend is a busy time for Americans. Each year, the highways fill with families in vehicles, on their way to start their summer vacations. To help keep drivers and passengers stay safe, the Indiana State Police is reminding motorists to Click It or Ticket. Aimed at enforcing seat belt use to help keep families safe, the national seat belt campaign will take place May 21 through June 3, concurrent with the busy travel season.

On Saturday, May 5, Edge Adventures Deep River Aerial Park, the only Aerial Park in Northwest Indiana, opened for the season. On Memorial Day, all current and former military personnel climb for FREE! As a Salute to Service, Edge will donate $1 per ticket to DAV (Disabled American Veterans) May 26 through May 28. Edge Adventures Aerial Park is a tree-to-tree adventure course that features over 50 challenging treetop obstacles and zip lines that provide thrills for guests at every skill level. It also features a kid’s park with elements closer to the ground that are designed for children ages 4-7. Edge Adventures Deep River Aerial Park is now open on weekends and will be open daily May 26 through mid-November.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Munster Post 2697, will conduct two Memorial Day ceremonies on Monday, May 28th. In the tradition began in 1868 by The Grand Army of the Republic, Post 2697 membership will conduct services “for the purpose of strewing with flowers or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in the defense of their country...with services and testimonials of respect…”
