Officer James Ghrist has been with the department since 2000 and has served as the Elementary School Officer and primary D.A.R.E. Officer since 2004. He teaches the D.A.R.E. curriculum to over 1,500 students a year in kindergarten through 8th grade at five schools and handles issues and safety concerns pertaining to the elementary schools. He also supervises the Munster Crime Watch Program, Choice Community Council, National Night Out Against Crime, Cops & Kids holiday shopping program, Snowflurry event, and assists residents with home security assessments and car seat installations. Officer Gabriel Isenblatter joined the department in 2007 and has served as the School Resource Officer at Wilbur Wright Middle School and Munster High School since early 2017. He handles issues at the secondary schools, teaches the D.A.R.E. curriculum to over 300 8th grade students at WWMS each year, supervises the Munster Police Explorers Program for young men and women ages 14-21, and is a trained evidence technician and bicycle officer.
