IL Holocaust Museum debuts Kerry Kennedy's “Speak Truth to Power” photo exhibition, Feb. 4 – June 24

Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center presents the Midwest debut of Speak Truth to Power, a major touring exhibition based on the book, Speak Truth to Power: Human Rights Defenders Who Are Changing Our World by Kerry Kennedy, President of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights. The photographic exhibition will highlight the experiences of over 40 courageous “Upstanders” and urges visitors to take action against Human Rights violations, on display from Sunday, February 4 – June 24, 2018.

Hyde Park Art Center (5020 S. Cornell) proudly presents “Embedded: Artist as Citizen,” a mural installation by artist and educator Dorian Sylvian in Gallery 5 from January 28 - July 29, 2018. The 80-foot wall will serve as a tribute to William “Bill” Walker (1927 – 2011), a prolific artist and leading figure in Chicago’s Black Arts Movement in the 1960s, best known for his work on the iconic 1967 “Wall of Respect” on Chicago’s South Side. A public reception for “Embedded: Artist as Citizen” will be held on Sunday, May 6 from 3-5 p.m.

Arts Commission announces Adrian Matejka as new Indiana State Poet Laureate

The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced the selection of Adrian Matejka (Mah-TEE-kuh), Bloomington, Indiana, as the new Indiana State Poet Laureate.
