CHICAGO ARTISTS COALITION PRESENTS ANNUAL BENEFIT, “WORK IN PROGRESS,” THURSDAY, MAY 18, 2017 AT VENUE ONE

The Chicago Artists Coalition (CAC) is pleased to announce the annual benefit “WORK IN PROGRESS,” May, 18, 2017. The event formerly known as “Starving Artist,” shifts toward a greater focus on interactive art experiences for the more than 500 guests in attendance. In addition, the revitalized event will feature an even more robust silent auction of work by distinguished and emerging Chicago artists. Co-chaired by photographer and former CAC BOLT resident Suzette Bross and Founder & Managing Partner of Dom Capital Jay Owen, all proceeds from “WORK IN PROGRESS,” CAC’s largest fundraiser of the year, directly support CAC’s year-round residencies, professional development workshops, ground-breaking exhibitions and the online platform CAR (Chicago Artists Resource).

Carmen opens February 11 in a New Lyric Coproduction: Eleven Performances through March 25

Lyric Opera of Chicago presents the thrilling story of a deadly love triangle set to Georges Bizet’s most vivid, exciting, and popular music. A new Lyric coproduction of Carmen opens on Saturday, February 11, with eleven performances through March 25 at Lyric’s Civic Opera House, 20 N. Wacker Drive, Chicago. EXPO CHICAGO Announces Curators Florence Derieux, Ali Subotnick and Justine Ludwig for 2017 Programs

XPO CHICAGO, The International Exposition of Contemporary & Modern Art, is proud to announce the selected curators for the IN/SITU and EXPO VIDEO programs, in addition to the inaugural curator for the EXPOSURE section. Showcasing large-scale installations and site-specific works throughout Navy Pier’s Festival Hall, IN/SITU will be curated by the Centre Pompidou Foundation Curator of American Art and the Centre Pompidou Curator-at-Large Florence Derieux. EXPO VIDEO, a dynamic screening program for film, video and new media works, will be selected by Adjunct Curator at the Hammer Museum Ali Subotnick. Director of Exhibitions and Senior Curator at Dallas Contemporary Justine Ludwig, will curate the EXPOSURE section—highlighting emerging work from galleries eight years and younger. The extended five-day, sixth edition of EXPO CHICAGO runs, Sept. 13–17, 2017 at Navy Piers Festival Hall.

Lyric Opera of Chicago and LA Opera announce a new coproduction of Orphée & Eurydice, composer Christoph Willibald Gluck’s most popular work, to be directed by internationally acclaimed Director and Chief Choreographer of The Hamburg Ballet, John Neumeier. The Joffrey Ballet will be featured in performances at both Lyric Opera and LA Opera. This will be the first collaboration between Lyric Opera of Chicago, LA Opera and The Joffrey Ballet.
